What is the Philips Hue Connected Bulb?

The new Philips Hue Connected Bulb system allows users to control the colour of various light bulbs around house remotely using a smart-phone app.

The system operated wirelessly around the house, though you can use the app anywhere with an internet connection – meaning you can control your lights at home whilst being anywhere in world.

It is possible to pull different colours from a photo, creating a mood based on a particular photo.

Important: to use the Philips Hue system you have to buy the start pack first. You cannot buy individual bulbs without first getting the equipment in the starter pack.

There are two types of products currently on sale:

Philips Hue Connected Bulb – Starter Pack

The Philips Hue Connected Bulb Start Pack currently sells for £179.95 from the Apple online store.

The pack contains three light bulbs, and the wireless control bridge system needed to set everything up.

There is also a LAN cable included to connect up the system to the router, and a power cable.

The system can control up to 50 light bulbs.

Philips Hue Connected Bulb – Single Pack

The single pack only contains one light bulb, and currently retails for £49.95.

Where to buy the Philips Hue Connected Bulb?

The Philips Hue Connected Bulb system is currently sold exclusively through Apple stores – meaning you can buy it online and via the local Apple store if you have one.
