Once upon a time there were only a few different kinds of laptop to choose from.

Today, it is a very different story. There are a lot of different types that you can choose from.

Netbooks / Mini Laptops

In recent years there has been an explosion in the popularity of netbooks and mini laptops. These types of laptop are very similar to the standard laptop, but much smaller in size.

Netbooks are primarilly designed to allow users to do light tasks such surfing the internet, checking your email or basic office tasks like using Microsoft Office.

They are the perfect size for those who need to work on the go. However, the potential issue of smaller screen size and lack of  RAM, processor speed and hard drive storage can make them unsuitable for some uses. Still, if you like to work on the move then they are a very good idea.

Laptops

The standard laptop has been around for years now. However, they have changed a lot. Once upon a time they were bulky pieces of equipment that were very difficult to carry around. However, now, they have evolved incredibly. You can even get widescreen laptops. The vast majority of computer users will actually now own a laptop. There are a lot of different brands out there at the moment; some are more popular than others.

Gaming Laptops / High Power Custom Laptops

Online gaming is incredibly popular these days, and computer developers know this. This is why there has now been a huge boost in the popularity of gaming and high power custom laptops. The majority of them are widescreen and have high quality displays. As well as this, they are designed to handle the power and storage needed to play games like this online. Of course, these laptops are a lot more expensive than the basic laptop.

Macbooks

The Macbook is probably one of Apple’s most famous and popular creations. This laptop is highly popular with business users as well as the younger generation. Many people have nothing but good things to say about the Macbook. If you have other Apple products then you will probably get more out of this laptop. However, the one downfall is the price of the product itself, although you can get cheaper models.

Macbook Air

The Macbook air is Apple’s sleekest creation. There are several things that make this laptop highly popular. Firstly, it is incredibly lightweight which makes it perfect for the average business user. There are multiple thigns that make this laptop popular. However, it is definitely not cheap. It is one of those laptops that would require a lot of saving up for most people.

Tablets

Tablets are the latest in laptop technology. Apple first brought the tablet into the limelight with their iPad, and more recently, the iPad 2. These touch screen pads are exactly like a laptop, except for the fact that they are touch screen and highly portable. Other brands have also brought out tablets now, some much more affordable than the iPad.
